Well done. Once a company has said yes, you are almost home and dry.
However, to ensure your experience is a safe one (for you and your employers), we have to check it out to ensure they have appropriate insurance and that they conform to all current Health and Safety regulations. For this reason you will need to fill in the placement form. From the information you provide in this form, we write to the placement and set up checks on Health & Safety and insurance. We also ask them to provide specific details about what you will be doing, what to wear and lunch arrangements etc. We also ask them to highlight what key skills they will be trying to develop based on your Preferences questionaire. This information will then be added to your Logbook. Remember, once this Placement form has been submitted, it typically takes 8 weeks for all the checks to be made, this is why it must be organised well in advance. Last-minute arrangements cannot therefore be approved UNLESS THE SCHOOL HAS USED THE PLACEMENT PREVIOUSLY OR IS CURRENTLY USING THEM. Only when all this is completed, will you receive a Log Book confirming that the School has approved your placement. Along with the Logbook will be a small, but perfectly formed guide to Health and Safety in the work place. The Logbook also makes it clear that on your first day YOU MUST FIND OUT CERTAIN HEALTH AND SAFETY DETAILS - see On the Placement Finally, after your placement has finished, the Company will be asked to provide some feedback about how well you performed. |
